When you bring a new baby into the world, there are many joys and concerns. Will the baby be healthy? How hard will my delivery be? But one thing that many women do not ask themselves is, “Will I suffer from hair loss after pregnancy?”
It is unfortunate that many women do suffer from hair loss after giving birth. This is a frustrating problem to have at such a happy time of your life. There are, fortunately, a few things that you can do to cope with the situation.
Don’t panic. Actually, hair loss after pregnancy is pretty common. This happens due to the fluxuating hormone levels in your body after childbirth. Most women who have hair loss after they have a baby regain all of their hair growth by the baby’s first birthday.
Realize that this might be a great time to experiment with a stylish new, shorter haircut. As all mothers have experienced, baby’s love to pull hair. By cutting your hair into a short, sophisticated style, your hair loss will not be as noticeable and your baby will have less hair to pull. Do not worry about whether or not others will like your new hair style. If you like it, that’s all that matters.
During the time right after childbirth, many women think that they can go back to eating in an unhealthy way, since they are no longer carrying a baby. This is not good for you or your hair. By eating a good amount of fruits and vegetables, you can keep your entire body, including your hair, healthy and looking good.
If you realize that you are losing a great deal of hair, you should talk to your doctor about it. An unhealthy balance of hormones can cause many more problems besides hair loss. Your doctor may be able to give you some medication that will help to balance your hormones and get you back to your old self.
